For those in search of a quick getaway from campus, be warned.
According to NEISD Officer Carlos Longoria, the fines for jaywalking will not exceed $155, with the citation name “Pedestrian in the Roadway.”
“[Keep in mind], the ticket will be enforced by SAPD officers, rather than our own,” Longoria said.
Students who wish to refute the new enforcement should have an open mind for safety. Authoritarian reasoning remains, “to get the message across” said Longoria, as “students have been hit along Macarthur View [in the past].”
Luckily, in hopes of fixing the conflict, Longoria adds that more crosswalks are in the works for the campus in the near future.
