The MacArthur Brahmas took on the Madison Mavericks in this year’s annual M&M Bowl on Friday, November 5. This game concluded the year’s regular season, and even though both teams have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, the atmosphere in sold out Heroes Stadium was that of a playoff matchup. The final score of this very anticipated game was 49-24 in favor of Mac, but it’s safe to say it was closer than that.
The Brahmas came out firing early, scoring on a 73-yard reception by senior tight end Jace Amaro that was nominated for WOAI’s Friday Fever Play of the Week. The scoring continued for Mac in the second quarter, when junior Darik Dillard rushed for an 81-yard touchdown. Dillard tallied up 299 yards rushing and 3 total touchdowns for the day. In the third quarter, however, Madison retaliated, outscoring MacArthur 24-14. Madison’s run was surged by a blocked punt that was returned for a 9-yard touchdown. The Brahmas sealed their victory when senior quarterback Clinton Killough threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jace Amaro on a gutsy fourth down play.
MacArthur will play their first playoff game this Friday, November 12, in New Braunfels against the New Braunfels Unicorns.
