The MacArthur vs. Johnson game, or Battle of the Blues as it’s commonly known, began on Friday the 29. As the first district game, the importance of winning was amplified.
The first quarter seemed promising, as Macarthur’s own Demetrius Brock made the first score of the game. With a field goal leaving the score 3-0. However it didn’t stay there long. As Johnson made a touchdown with an extra point conversion the same quarter leaving Mac behind 3 point(3-6).
As the game went into second quarter Johnson made another touchdown making the score 3-17.
Coach Marks squatted on the sidelines screaming at the boys.
“Get it together,” he yelled at the team.
However, things began to look a little better for Macarthur when Johnson got a penalty moving them 20 yards back. Decreasing their shot even more as the ‘Blue Wall’ (defense) awaited their chance to stop the Jags chance at a touchdown.
After being forced to evacuate Comalander stadium two days earlier students were allowed to enter once again to finish the last quarter of the game. As the game resumed Demetrius Brock scored a touchdown making the score 10-24.
Despite a great effort from the Brahmas boys, the score remained ten to twenty four.
” I think it was a real good experience, even though we lost we learned a lot,” Demetrius Brock said.
