Alina Velazquez (12) plays for the girls varsity softball team and will complete in the 2013 playoffs.
She was chosen as this week’s Around The Bullhorn athlete of the week.
BN: What are your expectations for the playoff game Friday, April 26?
Velazquez: I know it’s going to be a hard game, but I know we can do it. We just have to trust each other.
BN: What emotions are you feeling?
Velazquez: I’m feeling everything. I’m mostly nervous and excited.
BN: What was your reaction when you found out you and your team were going to the playoffs?
Velazquez: It was amazing. It will be my first time in the playoffs and it means everything to me.
BN: How long have you been playing softball?
Velazquez: I started playing softball my freshman year. I was on the JV team.
BN: Is softball the only sport you play?
Velazquez: I did play soccer but I wanted to try something new, so now I only play softball.
BN: What is your favorite thing to do besides playing softball?
Velazquez: My favorite thing to do is workout.
