Sweaty, wild, and loud. The crowd generates forward with so much energy patrons are forced to move with the herd. The cluster of disorderly and lawless bodies shrill at the sight of the lit up stage.
Festivals like Austin City Limits, known as ACL, and Fun Fun Fun Fest, known as FFFF, both held in Austin are becoming more popular. These on-going shows are not just for your daily hipsters, they are meant for everyone, even metal heads.
ACL is held in Zilker Park, and hosts over 130+ artists. There are local eats and tons of markets that appeal to the characters it attracts. It was formerly held for three days during the year, but is now being separated into two weekends this year.
“I wish they still had one day passes this year because it is more affordable, and not everybody can go all three days,” Lucas Juarez, 10,
said. “I have never been to a music festival, but I am planning on going to one this year. Hopefully ACL because of the great lineup.”
“I am looking forward to having a great time with my girlfriend on the first weekend, and also seeing the different music styles and personalities clash,” Juarez said.
Weekend One will be held between October 4-6 and Weekend Two will be on October 11-13. Although tickets are pricey, it is promised to be even better than previous years. This year’s headline artists include The Cure, Lionel Richie, Fun., and Depeche Mode.
Fun Fun Fun Fest, FFFF, showcases arts not limited to music including sports, films, and visual arts bound to please every art junkie that attends.
“I’ve been to similar festivals, and it was the most fun I can remember having,” Hallie Colbert, 11, said. “I am definitely going back this year to see FIDLAR and Bass Drum of Death.”
“These festivals are a fun, inexpensive way to see music culture and the arts of Austin,” Colbert said. “It’s so interesting because you are surrounded by people who have the same passion towards the music that you do and everyone is there to have a good time.”
Headliners for FFFF include MGMT, Slayer, M.I.A., and Snoop Lion. It is within one weekend, through November 8-10. One day passes are available for purchase.
