During the week of Oct. 28 -Nov. 1, the theatre department will perform the Shakespearian play, As You Like It, with the exception of Oct. 31 (Halloween). The actors and actresses have put a great amount of rehearsing into this play the last couple of weeks.
“Everyday after school we practice from 4:30 p.m.-6:3o p.m.,” Megan Marsico, 12, said. “We also practice from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. every Saturday.”
Along with all of the other pieces of work from Shakespeare, this play has a unique storyline.
“The play is about my character Rosalind and and her cousin Celia,” Marsico said. “Celia and my character are banished by my uncle and we decide to run off. Basically, everyone falls in love with the wrong character throughout the play.”
The play has an unusual twist that is leaving the actors anxious for feedback.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the crowd’s reaction when I have to come out disguised as a man,” Marsico said.
One of the main aspects in drawing an actor into trying out for a play is peaking their interest.
“I’ve been in theatre for four years now and I’ve always liked the Shakespeare plays,” Marsico said. “This is one of the plays I hadn’t heard of before, so I was curious as to what was going to go down in this one. That’s mainly why I auditioned.”
