Beginning round two of district play, the Varsity Volleyball team took on the #9 team in the district, the Johnson Jaguars at Blossom Tues. Oct. 8. The girls used teamwork and encouraging words towards one another to not let up in the game.
The match went into a stand still 2-2 (Games W-L) in which the final game determined it all, and whether the girls would be third or fourth in district and be able to qualify for Playoffs.
“We really needed this game to keep our spot in districts to get a chance to play in playoffs,”
Four-time Junior Olympian Madison Trawick, 9, said. ”If we win our next game against Churchill that will determine if we get to go to playoffs or not because it is the top 4 teams that qualify.”
Their next game is against the Winston Churchill Chargers Fri. Oct. 11th 5:30pm in the Blossom Athletic Center. This will be their qualification round for playoffs.
“[The game against Johnson] was a huge let down because we worked so hard as a team and we all exceeded our maximum potential as individuals,” Mallory Potts, 9, said. “I really believe that we will come out on top against Churchill because their best player will be out, giving us an advantage in the game. We will still give it our all, [just] like we do in every game; we’re just hoping for the win.”
