Last night the varsity basketball team (11-5, 4-3 district) took on the Johnson Jaguars (10-15, 4-3 district) in a district matchup.
Mac trailed at the end of the first half 20-26, but stayed within their highest deficit of 11 points the rest the game. Through defensive pressure and by way of three-pointers and some quick passes, the Brahmas overcame the Jaguars 54-47 .
Their first lead of the game came with only 5:30 remaining in the fourth, setting up the win. Leading scorer was junior Matt Gramling with 22 points.

Jordan Pratt, junior, went into the game with “…high expectations. We will go into the game all fired up to get the job done with a lot of intensity and pressure on the ball.” Pratt went on to get 8 points.
“Last meeting we beat them by over twenty points. We need to keep that upward score in mind as we move up and down the court,” Pratt said. “[We should] be on watch for senior Anthony Walker, 6’9″ center. He is big and lanky, makes it hard to drive the ball through the defense,” Pratt said, ” Walker is committed to Texas-Arlington.”
The Brahmas squeezed out the win for today and will play Roosevelt this Saturday, at 11:00A.M at Blossom Athletic Center.
