A 2-0 victory for the boys soccer team Fri. Feb. 14 resulted in Reagan’s first district loss since 2010. The known rivalry between the schools made for a very exciting match on the field.
After a scoreless first half, Ricardo Flores, 12, broke away from defenders and scored. The next goal was credited to Kye Morawietz, 11, but the goal was off of a mistake by the Reagan goalie of missing the ball rolling through his legs and into the back of the net.
Ever since their 3-0-0 (W-L-T) start, the team has gone 3-3-3. But, this win against Reagan could be the turning point away from their recent slump.
“You’ve got to go through those struggles; you don’t want to peak too soon; you want to peak when you’re going into the playoffs,” Coach Damion Simmons said. “When they get focused, they can do anything they want to do out on the pitch.”
