Kit Kats, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey’s Kisses, and hot chocolate are all sweets that people love to eat during the cold weather season.
Everyone can agree that the ability to eat a whole bag of M&Ms on a chilly night and not be criticized for it is a fantastic thing. But haven’t you wanted a healthier alternative to all the delectable things you can eat on the bone chilling nights without having to sacrifice the stomach grumbling goodness that is artificially sweetened chocolate straws?
Well, I’ve got just the recipe for you:
Butter Honey Snack:
For this recipe, you will need cashew butter, almond butter, cookie butter, or peanut butter (peanut butter and cookie butter aren’t as good for you as the ones listed before, but it’s not as expensive, and it gives a more traditional flavor to the snack itself), Honey in the Raw, and Chocolate Chex mix.
All you have to do is spread the selected “butter” on the chex mix in a fairly large microwave safe bowl, then add honey. Mix it all around and put it in the microwave. (Maybe 30-45 seconds)
Once you’re done with that, you can make small or medium size balls with the mix and let them sit out for at least two minutes, or until they set.
Wrap them up in a paper bag or cover them in plastic wrap for later.
Peanut Butter Crunch:
In this next one you’ll need either “crunchy” peanut butter (the one where you have partially ground up nuts in it), or peanut butter that you’ve ground up yourself. You can buy that sort of thing at the high end H-E-B’s.
You’ll also need soft whole or multi-grain bread, organic gala apples, and 85% real cocoa chocolate. As a warning, this dark chocolate is not for the faint of heart. It’s pretty bitter when you’ve first tried it, so if you’re not into that sort of taste I would instead use sweet raspberries or pieces of your favorite cereal.
The first thing you’ve got to do is stir and heat the peanut butter in a separate container. No one likes awkwardly wet goo in their snack.
The next step is to pretty much make a sandwich. You know, spread the peanut butter on the bread, ect ect. Then chop your apple into halves, then fourths, and eighths. Sprinkle the cubes on the sandwich and sprinkle your desired topping on the sandwich.
Do the same to another piece of bread and mash them together. Cut them into squares and enjoy.
They’re also good for a night at home with a copy of “Mean Girls” and a pumpkin spice latte; because you’re just that basic.
Wrap them up in a paper bag or cover them in plastic wrap for later.
Now you’ve got a delicious snack that is a much better alternative to the delicious carcinogen, marshmallows. Happy snacking.
