Despite their slow start, the boys soccer team looks to pick up speed going into the district season. The team stands at 1-0-1 (W-L-T) in district after a 0-0 tie Feb. 6 against last year’s district champion Churchill.
“It was a good outcome for us,” junior defender Zac Cunningham said. “We had our chances, we didn’t put it away, the one PK we should’ve, but, other than that, it was a well fought game, and there’s nothing really else to say.”
Senior forward Parker Miller had one missed penalty kick two minutes into the second half that could have given the team the lead. The tie dropped the fifth ranked Churchill squad two spots from fifth to seventh in theĀ MySA.comĀ rankings.
The boys look to improve on their current 3-6-1 (W-L-T) record when they play Lee Fri. Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at BAC-East.
“Preseason, we were playing the number teams in the city,” Cunningham said. “This week we played Madison and that just gave us drive to keep going throughout the season.”
