Gore, horror, and uncomfortable B-rated movies are what make up America.
Take a look at the list at the greatest, gnarliest, and goriest movies out there.
1. John Wick (2014) Rating: R-
John Wick is a retired hitman for a Russian-run organization who is known as the boogeyman for his persistence in an assassination and his ability to take out anyone in his path single handedly. He then got out of the organization to pursue a life with his wife. A day after her death, the son of the head Russian organization member killed his dog. The rest of the movie is him trying to find the son and take him out. (it was a very special dog that had deep sentimental value.) In the end, he takes out the whole Russian organization, including the head-honcho, and returns to a life without disruption.
My rating: 4.5 stars
2. Django Unchained (2012) Rating: R-
A german bounty hunter looks for a slave to buy in help of his duties. The bounty hunter frees him and goes on collecting payment while they do what he does best. The bounty hunter then makes a deal to help the freed slave’s wife get out of the clutches of a brutal plantation owner.
My rating: 3.75 stars
3. The Evil Dead (1981) Rating: R-
Five college students are vacationing in a wooden cabin in the woods. (Obviously a scary movie, what with the woods and all.) Unknowingly, they release demons into the world that need hosts. If you like this movie, I’d implore you to watch Thir13en Ghosts. It has a similar plot- releasing things into the world- and will leave you a bit shaken up from the skin-peeling gore.
My rating: 2.5 stars.
4. Battle Royale (2000) Rating: NR-
9th grade students from Japan are forced to participate in Battle Royale- a setting much like The Hunger games minus the cameras. A few students refuse to fight against one another, but with smaller and smaller populations, some things are unavoidable.
My rating: 3.75 stars.
5. First Blood (1982) Rating: R-
Everyone knows about Rambo. With his Vietnam soldier past, he is haunted every day by the memories that came along with the experience. When he is confronted by the ever present William Teasel and sheriff, he is angered and takes the situation out of hand.
