Furious 7 has been one of the most anticipated films of 2015. With the Fast & Furious franchise earning over $2.3 billion worldwide at the box office since the original film, which was released in 2001, the film series have proven to grow even stronger and gain even more fans in these last few years.
“The movie was great, there was so much action and special effects” junior Katlynne West said.
Dominic Torretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew thought they left the criminal life behind. They defeated a terrorist named Owen Shaw and went their seperate ways. But now, Shaw’s brother, Deckard Shaw is out killing the crew one by one for revenge. Worse, another terrorist called Jakarde, and a shady government official called “Mr. Nobody” are both competing to steal a computer terrorism program called God’s Eye, that can turn any technological device into a weapon. Torretto must gather up his team to stop Shaw and retrieve the God’s Eye program while caught in a power struggle between terrorist and the government.
“It was sad watching it because of Paul Walker, he was such a great actor and [it’s] such a tragedy he’s gone” West added.
When Paul Walker tragically died in a car crash on November 30, 2013, in Valencia, CA, they where about halfway through production of Furious 7. Filming was put on pause for a few months while the cast and crew mourned the death of their friend, but the Universal Pictures had to figure out how to finish the film, or if they were just going to stop filming in general.
“The tribute at the end for Paul Walker was very emotional and had an impact on me” sophomore Alexis Ybarra said. “I grew up watching the Fast & Furious movies with my family, they were apart of my childhood.”
Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, will be retired rather than killed off in this film, the heart felt tribute was Toretto and the rest of the crew looking out at Brian and his family playing on the beach, when suddenly Toretto leaves and gets in his car without saying goodbye. As he’s driving away a car pulls up next to him, it’s Brian he then says “You can’t leave without saying goodbye.” with a smile on his face.
