As winter weather leaves us behind for good and spring takes its place, now might be a good time to assess the health of your hair. The harsh winter cold has probably left your tresses weak and the new intense sunlight is causing damage on already fragile strands. Here is a tutorial to strengthen limp hair and give your locks a glossy finish again. This recipe utilizes two common kitchen ingredients to make this hair mask quickly in your kitchen without breaking the bank.
Ingredients:
1 or 2 room temperature eggs (depending on hair length)
2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil.
First, measure out the coconut oil. If the oil is in solid form, place it in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 10-15 seconds or until just melted. You don’t want the oil so hot that it cooks the egg.
Then, add the egg(s). If they are not exactly room temperature that is ok, but mixing the cold egg with the liquid coconut oil will turn parts of the oil solid again, and you want a smooth mixture.
Next, whisk up your mixture until it is combined.
Now you are ready to get started. Find a towel to drape around your shoulders and a clear spot over the sink. You will get messy.
Next, section your hair into two parts or however many will make application easiest. Start putting the mixture all over your hair, starting at the ends and going all the way up until you are near but not touching the roots. Coconut oil can cause greasiness when left on the roots of hair.
Completely saturate your hair with the mixture, and tie it up in a bun on the top of your head. Leave on for at least 20 minutes, or more if desired.
After the time is up, hop in the shower and shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would. Be sure to wash out all of the mask, as to avoid greasy and sticky hair the next day.
Once your hair is washed and dried, it should feel sleek, soft, and cooperative. Enjoy your great hair day!
