The baseball team faced New Braunfels in the first round of playoffs on Saturday May 9 in a best of three series that the Brahmas narrowly won in game 3.
In game one, Jacob Sandoval started as the pitcher for Mac as the team played a solid defensive game and scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th to win game one 5-3.
Even though the Brahmas pitched their proverbial number one, junior Josh Jung, the team lost game two 10-2. New Braunfels came out desperate, as expected, and Mac struggled to match their intensity.
In the deciding game, senior Steven Cardone emerged as the star as he pitched a great game and lifted the team late with a solo home run. The 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th proved to be the difference as the team won the game 3-1, and the series 2-1.
This series allows the team to gain experience and get ready for the the number one team in the city, O’Connor. That series begins Thursday night at Wolff Stadium.
