There’s no better way getting into the halloween spirit than crawling into bed at night and watching a gut wrenching film that’s sure to make you scream.
Here’s a list of the best Halloween movies on Netflix.
1. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
This horror movie classic stars Mia Farrow who plays the young newlywed who moves to a very ominous apartment in New York. She becomes pregnant and begins to isolate herself from the rest of the world. After she gives birth, they soon find out her newborn is not of this world.
2. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Anthony Hopkins stars as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a psychopathic killer, who is arrested for cannibalistic tendencies. He forges a plan to use the young FBI agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) as bait to escape prison. This classic film is sure to be a huge hit at your next halloween party.
3. The Addams Family (1991)
If you’re looking for a funnier twist to halloween this year, this movie will sure to do the trick. Following the original television series, The movie follows Morticia and Gomez Addams and their children Wednesday and Pugsley who live in an eerie, gothic inspired mansion. Their wacky and sometimes dark humor will be sure to make you laugh.
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Despite the title, this movie is still a Halloween classic. One of Tim Burton’s best, this film follows Jack Skellington, “king of the pumpkin patch” and king of Halloween town. Bored of the everyday life of Halloween town, he escapes and enters the bright Christmas town. His plan backfires when he tries to bring the two towns together by the evil boogie monster. I couldn’t imagine a Halloween without this hilarious movie.
5. Scream (1996)
Starring the talented Drew Barrymore, a young girl tries to deal with her mother’s murder when she finds that two other girls are murdered. She begins to become frightened when it seems everyone in town is being killed off one by one by a deranged serial killer. Put this on and it’ll be sure to make you scream.
6. Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Johnny Depp stars in this Tim Burton (obviously) remake of the famous story of “The Headless Horseman”. Ichabod Crane is sent to the town of Sleepy Hollow after three decapitated bodies are found. He soon learns that-what seemed to be a myth-of the headless horseman is actually very much real and cursing the town.
7. Corpse Bride (2005)
This final movie is a personal favorite of mine. Another Tim Burton film with, you guessed it, Johnny Depp as the lead, this cute but ominous animation surrounds the life of Victor Van Dort, a shy and clumsy poet is arranged to marry the beautiful and rich Victoria Everglot. But, when Victor gets cold feet and runs into the woods, he mistakenly says his vows to a corpse who rises from the dead and believes they are getting married.
I would seriously recommend this movie, especially if you love Tim Burton films.
Not only is Halloween the best holiday of the year, but it also has the greatest movies.
So if you’re like me, you’ll be sitting down and watching one of these movies at least every night this entire month.
