Boys’ basketball advances to the next round of district playoffs after gaining a 61-51 victory against Stevens on Saturday. Their next game is tomorrow, Wednesday, March 2nd at 6 P.M.
Juniors Matt Gramling and Jordan Pratt were the stars of the night, both with 23 points.
Although this win against Stevens marks one step closer to the district championship, going into the Reagan game tomorrow they recognize that they have to step it up defensively.
“They have to be more active [defensively]. They have real D-1 players,” says Head Coach Mark Murphy.
Reagan’s combination of Tre Demps, a 6’3 senior combo guard (committed to Northwestern) and Max Yon, a 6’5 senior guard (committed to Air Force Academy) will prove to be a challenge for our (tentative) starters Matt Gramling, Jordan Pratt, along with seniors Ben Lytle, Alonzo Lewis, and Michael Flores.
“We need to settle the score against Reagan. They’ve beaten us twice already, and it’s really hard to beat a team three times in a single season, so the statistics are on our side. This certainly serves as a motivator. Reagan is number one in the district and now the pressure is on,” Murphy said.
