With football coming to a close the boys basketball season is about to take off within weeks as they scrimmage amongst themselves before taking on other schools.
“We start by scrimmaging two really good teams [Canyon and Brandeis High School] before our season officially starts,” boys basketball, Coach Murphy, said.
The first game of the season is against Brennan High School on Monday, Nov. 13.
“We have two new players, one from Johnson and one from Churchill, then we have a returning letterman,” Coach Murphy said.
The team of twelve players also consists of three players from last years JV team.
“We are very positive for the outlook of this year,” Coach Murphy said.
The team feels confident and hopes to have a successful season, much like last year when they had a winning record of 17-15.
“We hope to build on last year’s season and are looking forward to what is to come,” Coach Murphy said.
The team has made playoffs every year for the last twelve years and plans to continue their success streak as they go against the top teams in the district.
“Madison is pretty much the favorite to win district, but every team is pretty good,” Coach Murphy said. “Every game is going to be a tough one.”
With three unpredictable tournaments looming over the team, the coaches stay positive and work hard to prepare for district.
“We have a lot of experience coming back and the shooting is much better this year,” Coach Murphy said.
He also believes that the team chemistry and play is stronger because the boys are working hard and looking forward to having a successful season.
