Since spring 2018, the Parent Teacher Student Association (Mac PTSA) has been working on securing funding to add lighting elements to the arch placed in front of the school entrance. This project, costing nearly $16,000, is slated to be completed by May 2020.
“Typically, campus Parent Teacher Student Associations set aside a budget line for campus improvements,” PTSA President Mrs. Belle Watson said. “Our budget line is called ‘Keep Mac Beautiful.’ We began this particular project concept in the Spring of 2018.”
Having already raised $10,000, the PTSA has set up a GoFundMe to help raise the remaining $5,000.
The LED conduits, which are used to electrify the lights, have already been installed. The lighting itself is coming from China, which is currently delayed. “Recent issues with tariffs and the coronavirus have slowed down the process,” Watson explained.
“We believe this campus improvement is a beautification project that will bring a sense of pride to our campus and the community on and around MacArthur View,” Watson said.
