Thanksgiving is right around the corner, time to party. Just kidding there’s a pandemic going on, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be a party in your mouth. That’s right, here’s an amazing recipe for desserts you can bake for you and make your family members jealous over the zoom call.
Apple Pie Bars
Starting off with one of my favorites, Apple pie bars. Materials needed;
2 sticks of butter, ½ cup sugar, ¼ cup brown sugar,2 ½ cups of all purpose flour, ½ tsp. of kosher salt. All of these ingredients will be used to make the crust. The ingredients in the following list will be used for the filling or the core of the desert. Materials needed;
6 apples peeled, cored, and sliced. Juice of half a lemon, ½ cups of brown sugar, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract, ½ tps. of kosher salt. For this desert there is also a topping with ingredients that include;
1 ½ cup of all purpose flour, 1 cup chopped pecans, 1 cup of packed brown sugar, 1 ½ sticks of butter, and ½ of kosher salt. You can also drizzle some caramel on top to make it fancy.
Directions:
Preheat your oven to a nice 350°, and line your 9×13 pan with parchment paper then spray it with cooking spray. In a large bowl mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add flour and and salt to the butter and sugar until it’s combined together. Then press the mixture into the pan about ½ an inch of thickness, back until it’s lightly golden, so around 20 minutes.
While that’s baking in another large bowl hand toss apples, lemon juice, brown sugar ,cinnamon ,vanilla , and salt together. Spread apples on crust. In another clean bowl mix flour, pecans, brown sugar, and salt. Then pour in melted butter until it becomes clumps.
Take the clips and sprinkle them over the apples and back till it’s golden which should be about an hour. Then once it dazzles you with it’s golden glow let it cool down. Once cool cut them into bars/ squares. If you want you can drizzle caramel on them which would make the explosion of flavors even more powerful.
So who’s ready for thanksgiving, because I am. Though we aren’t together with our family this year, we should still call and make sure they know they aren’t alone. Well alone because of COVID, but not alone in this weird confusing situation 2020 has set up for us.
