The volleyball team took on the Madison Mavericks on Tuesday the 14 on Madison’s home court for another matchup between the two rival schools.
After our junior varsity team lost their game against the Mavs 2-0, the varsity team was up. Coming into the game, MacArthur stood at an even .500 record, at 14-14, while Madison had an impressive 19-11 record. Madison kept a steady lead throughout the first set, eventually winning 25-16. The second set was back and forth with each team taking leads, but Macarthur eventually won the set 25-20. Madison controlled the third set, winning 25-16, and the fourth was a slow and gritty set that had high intensity, but Madison eventually won the set 25-17, clinching the game in a 3-1 set score.
“We never gave up, but we just didn’t execute as well as we should have,” standout Varsity player, senior, Bryley Westfahl said. “I think we just need to be more consistent and not have as many dips in our play.”
The team will take on Clark at home on Friday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. The team will hope to come back stronger and get their record back to an even .500.
