The volleyball teams brought Breast Cancer awareness in the annual Pink Out game. The teams hosted a fundraiser where each dig (a defender’s chance to stop an attack from the opposing side) earned a certain amount of money from a sponsor bid. The money collected will be donated to S.L.E.W ( Support Landing for Emotional Well-being ) an organization that helps those battling and recovering from breast cancer.
The game took place in the big gym and the Blue Crew was loud and proud cheering the team on as they battled against Roosevelt.
“The game was fun,” freshman middle blocker, Olivia Arnatt. “I enjoyed our cheering section, they really make a difference in our game.”
The volleyball teams had clean sweeps taking all three games, not a single match losted. The freshman team scores were 25 – 9 and 25 – 16 not allowing Roosevelt to even get to twenty. JV’s matches were 25 – 16 and 25 – 17 they had a sufficient number of digs.
“Six digs, my goal was ten, but six is good for a middle hitter,” JV middle blocker, Nevaeh Davis said.
JV’s match was exciting and got the crowd amped up for the varsity game. Varsity was the perfect end to the night, with sets of 25 – 16, 25 – 20, and 25 – 15. Their game had the most digs, coming out to 66 digs.
“The team goal:50. Actual goal:66,” varsity setter, Katie Markey said.
They had the best rallies fighting for each and every point. At the end of the night the total of digs were 151.
