The girls soccer team finished district play with a record of 8-2-2.
During the opening district playoff against New Braunfels, senior Stephanie Fazzini scored two goals assisted by sophomore Courtney Berthof and senior Kelsey Falcone. The final score was 2-0 MacArthur.
The second playoff match was against Brandeis. Competitiveness proved to be a key component on the pitch, with a single goal scored in extra time. Assisted by sophomore Brianna Livecchi, Berthof scored across the goal, chipping the ball far post into the net.
The ladies played Steele at 6pm yesterday, coming away with a 4-0 win. Kelsey Falcone scored two goals, one of which was a powerful shot from outside of the eighteen into the upper ninety of the goal. senior Brenna Smith and Berthof scored each of the other two goals. Also, with less than ten minutes left in the match, Alex Zarazua took a hard fall and tore her ACL.
The ladies will face Los Fresnos in the regional semifinals in Brownsville this weekend.
