Tuesday through Thursday the school hosts a bake sale at 4:15 p.m. by the bus entrance every week. Students in Chef Tamez’s class come together and work on beverages and cookies for students who have successfully finished another long school day. Jasmin Herrera, a senior in advanced culinary believes “there is time and thought put into the weekly sale. The famous lemonade that is known for its culinary taste is made with thoughtfulness.”
“The lemonade we make is from the previous day”. Herrera said. “We measure out the amount we need by making the containers we buy and put them in the bigger containers provided.” Says a senior in advanced culinary. From the reviews given by various students about the sweet taste and everlasting flavor, they all want to know the secret behind the lemonade.
“We make it sweeter than it should be by adding ice”. Herrera said “Lemonade sitting on a table will water down.” Many take culinary courses wanting to pursue a career in it, while some take it to learn the basics of cooking.
“I think culinary class is a really good way to get experience out there in the world.” Herrera said. Culinary is for people who are genuinely going to be dedicated and who will have time for it. We have meetings back to back, we meet every morning to talk about the upcoming thing we’re going to do.”
“It’s a quick process. Recently we added Arnold Palmer drinks, instead of cups we use huge Capri Sun pouches to contain the messiness.” Herrera said “We normally sell out fast!”
