Tennis fall season has come to a winning close, with the team placing second in the Districts match, and taking home the win at the bi-districts match against McCollum High School. The team played well all year, winning more than half of their matches.
“I believe this was our best year yet,” varsity senior player Mia Rojas said, “I think everyone could be even better after I graduate and continue to grow more successful.”
Since this team season is over, the girls move on to individual season, where they play the sport individually with singles, doubles, or mix, but they’ll play against many different schools leading up to another District meet.
The next season will begin again in January, starting with matches that last all day.
“When it gets to individual season, it’s my favorite time of the year,” varsity senior Samya Robinson said, “especially when it gets colder outside and we get to wear our hoodies and letterman jackets.”
The team advanced to play at Bi-Districts, at which they won 16 matches to three, winning the event overall. After this, the team is moving on to area finals, something that hasn’t happened for the varsity tennis team in 25 years. After everything they have accomplished so far, they should have nothing else to feel but proud.
“My favorite part of this year’s season must be how everyone was supporting each other,” said Rojas, “everyone was striving for each other to be better at practices.”
“I love being on the team and constantly being surrounded by people I love and care about”, said Robinson.
