Selling carnations and teddy bears for the last time on Tuesday, Feb. 13, DECA and the French Club work together in the cafeteria during 4th, 5th, and 6th-period lunches. The items will be delivered on Valentine’s Day.
“It’s a great way to show your love towards a friend or significant other,” senior DECA member Makenzie Healey said.
DECA and French Club did this fundraiser last year and made hundreds of dollars. With the success of last year, they decided to do it again this year with prices at $2 for bears and $2 for carnations.
“It all comes back to the money for us and being able to make a profit as that is a big part of business. So, we need to think what’s a reasonable price that makes everyone happy,” Healey said.
French Club and DECA made the decision this year to make the fundraiser take place in the school store in the cafeteria.
“Their big improvement this year was to involve the School Store in the cafeteria,” French Club teacher Mr. Curran said. “This means that the Special Education students in the school store help us, while they gain more life skills.”
This fundraiser hopes to bring a lot of joy to the students and to the people involved in creating such a pleasant event.
“Valentine flowers spread cheer on campus,” Mr. Curran said. “Since last year, we include teddy bears in our sale, for more cheer.”
