For the conclusion of the year, Spotify Wrapped released to summarize everyone’s music listening from this year. Music from all over the world is recognized during this time of the month and the feature almost acts as a holiday gift.
Music is what makes people come together, in ways of joy, love, sadness and heartbreak.
“This is really corny, but it was probably one of the songs that me and my boyfriend bonded over a lot. So, there’s that; It’s a good song [Unsweetened Lemonade by Arctic Monkeys] ,” Freshman Emma Monroe said.
All music sounds different and not a single song is the same. This creates a wide range of genres for all artists to go through.
“I just like the beat [Shut Me Up by Mindless Self Indulgence],” Freshman Gabrielle Caroll said.
Different music can also help people take on a creative mindset and create a sense of peace while listening.
“My most listened to song is [Amor by Alta Eleanica, & DannyLux], what I believed my song to be when I was playing the character Renfield in the play Dracula, and, so, to connect with my character, I listened to the song on repeat over and over again,” Junior Daniel Montoya said.
Music has been a form for people to express how they feel in ways that some can’t express themselves. Music will always be a tool for helping people reach levels of commodity and closeness with others as it helps bring people together.
“I love Phoebe Bridgers,” junior Kendra Rivera said. “So, I think that’s why, [Savior Complex], It’s a comfort song for me. I know all the lyrics, I can recognize it on the first beat.”
