Starting many trends and spreading across media platforms like wildfire, the newest album DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS by Bad Bunny is in full go. This is the sixth solo studio album by the multi-talented Puerto Rican artist. Translated to English, DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS means “I should have taken more photos.” Benito Ocasio’s, AKA Bad Bunny, reason for the album title is to show his understanding and regrets of not enjoying the moments he had or expressing his love more growing up. The album speaks on personal details of Bad Bunny’s life while taking a new route in his music style.
In this album, many of Bad Bunny’s tracks differ from his past releases and show experimental moves leaving his comfort zone. He begins his album with salsa, a style of Caribbean music that combines many elements of differetn genres and is commonly used as “dancing music.” Benito does a great job of mixing his style and singing bringing a fresh perspective to the songs. He commits to the idea of dancing music in track three, BAILE INoLVIDABLE, “unforgettable dance”. This song speaks about a relationship with a woman that he can’t get over and definitely is one of the most well-performed songs of Bad Bunny’s discography.
He then transitions to the second phase of the album where he returns to his classic reggaeton style. Although he thrived with this style it is definitely the weakest part of the album though. The instrumentals in the middle of the album feel repetitive and don’t bring as much excitement as the past songs. It feels like the artist set the bar off high too quickly, that the rest of the songs seemed underwhelming making the middle part of the album feel bland. Songs like BOKeTE and TURiSTA follow it up, changing the mood in more of a slow pace and speak again on his past failed relationships and missed opportunities which continue the theme of the album nicely but get easily outshined by the third phase of the album.
The third and final act of the album changes the pace, bringing more emotion to the tracks. It continues with one of the most underrated songs on the album, CAFé CON RON, which brings back the mixing of genres and makes it into a catchy and very vibey song. Bad Bunny then follows it up with many great tracks like EoO where he switches into various reggaeton beats and brings explosive energy to the track. Out of all the tracks on the record the biggest hit so far for Bad Bunny is DtMF and it is understandable, it is the most sentimental song out of the whole album and shows Benito’s true intentions when entering relationships with others and sending heartfelt messages to the listener along with a very catchy flow.
Overall DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS is a good album with many new sounds from Bad Bunny and indeed a very personal album for him expressing the consequences of not enjoying the moment and savoring it. Bad Bunny definitely exceeded expectations following up his last album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, very nicely. Because of the catchy flows and noticeable lyrics this album is very replayable making it great to listen to almost anywhere, and great for party music. Bad Bunny’s new album receives 4 out of 5 stars.
