As the second semester of the school year continues, the seniors’ time in high school starts to come to a close. After graduation, many seniors will be preparing for their time in college, which despite being an experience to remember, can present many challenges.
“In general, I feel very skeptical about attending college next year, mostly because I hold no passion or interest towards any major presented to me,” senior Kyrstal Solares said.
Students are used to having a limited number of options when it comes to the classes they take, so trying to choose what to study can be difficult. As well as the demanding courses, students also must learn to balance all the adult responsibilities coming their way.
“The biggest challenge for me would be trying to maintain a balance between all aspects of my life, because I also plan on getting a part time job at an auto part store, which despite helping me in the long-run, will make my life more challenging,” senior Elizar Martinez said.
In addition to all that these young adults will have on their plates, there will be the general struggle of finding the right circle of friends, getting accustomed to the college norms and simply finding one’s way in a larger crowd.
“I’m a bit concerned about the uncertainty of the future and how it will unfold,” senior Jewels Calzada said. “I’m also concerned about adapting to a new and unfamiliar environment.”
It is a lot that gets thrown in the seniors direction. It is such a young age to be deciding already what they want their future to look like, and all that it takes to get there.
“Overall I’m glad I’ll finally be done with high school, but I’m not happy with having to go into the ‘real’ world with such a small amount of experience.” Solares said
