Feigning the Steele defense, junior mid-fielder Brianna Livecchi maneuvered past the opposing players, clad in gray and black uniforms, as she made her way to the goal line. The goal keeper bent her knees, arms out, readying herself for an attempt at the goal, but Livechi faked to her right and then, with powerful legs, kicked the ball in for the goal. The girls were comfortably sitting at a lead of three to zero.
After that miraculous goal, sophomore midfielder Mattie Morris was fouled and allowed a penalty kick – which she made, leading the girls to their four to zero win over Steele.
“The game as a whole was great,” junior Shannon Lukehart said. “I thought the girls and myself did a excellent job and I hope we go far during the district games and make it to playoffs.”
Taking control over the pre season, non-district games, the varsity soccer girls are definitely giving the audience a run for their money, taking the win for all of the three games they have played so far. The girls will be playing Austin Bowie, Jan. 24 at 7 P.M. at Heroes Stadium. Their district season starts Feb. 3 with an opening game against the Johnson Jaguars.
