Whether you go for the food, the entertainment and activities, or the competition, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is the place to be.
“It’s a very different experience,” junior Patty Zaragoza said.
A lot of hype has been circulating around school pertaining to the performances held at the rodeo – including ones by Luke Bryan (country), Chris Young (country), Keith Urban (country), Hot Chelle Rae (alternative), Tenth Avenue North (religious affiliated), and many more.
As if the performers weren’t enough, the food is an attraction of its own, from cowboy stew, fajitas, ribs, burgers, hot dogs, turkey legs, buttermilk biscuits, funnel cakes, candy apples, cotton candy, and peach cobbler, all the way to fried twinkies.
“I tried a chicken fried sandwich, and it was pretty delicious,” Zaragoza said.
Not only does the rodeo offer music and food, it provides a multitude of fun-filled activites for those not into concerts or over-eating. The grounds include a carnival section with an assortment of thrilling rides and odd-skill-requiring games.
Aside from the food, fun, and entertainment, the rodeo’s main attraction remains to be the “Stock Show” part of the rodeo itself and all its components: the livestock show, contests, auctions, buck and bull riding, and barrel-racing, just to name a few.
“I really enjoyed watching the buck riding,” Zaragoza said. “It was really neat, and the horses were really pretty.”
Onlookers can participate in watching the animals in their events, and some owners even let you touch their animals, in addition to those at the petting zoos. Whether you like music or food, carnivals or animals, the rodeo has it all; don’t miss your chance to experience the sights, smells, and even tastes. “Let’s Rodeo San Antonio!”
