Pencils were pushed and awards won as MacArthur UIL academics took first place at competition in Port Aransas, Texas on Saturday, January 28. Several subjects accumulated many team points and took first place over all. Thirty-six students participated and 21 walked away with awards.
Students arrived on Friday, allowing them extra time to spend at the beach and visiting local gift shops on Mustang Island. Senior Josh Hernandez enjoyed his time spent with the team.
“This year’s UIL trip to Port-A was an awesome experience, and a great chance to get to know new people and grow as a team,” Hernandez said.
The next step is the competition held at Clemens High School on February 5.
