With summer rounding the corner there is bound to be the one lingering question going around: ‘what can I do this summer?’. It’s a lonely time if you’re the only one out of your friends not doing anything over the summer but there are all sorts of things that can help cure the summer boredom ranging all the way from getting a summer job to playing video games at home. Here are 9 activities that can help you fight the boredom.
1. Have a picnic in your backyard:
Having a picnic out in your backyard is a fun and non-expensive way to spend time with loved ones outdoors in the cool summer breeze. Although some of you might think that having a picnic in your backyard is lame, it is actually not, and it gives you and your loved ones privacy so that you all don’t have to feel like others are eavse-dropping on you. Also, its a great way to enjoy the outdoors in a more family oriented place.
2. Reunite with old friends/family that you haven’t talked to in a while:
Reuniting with friends/family not only gives you a good feeling but it also helps rid the dreadful feeling of boredom, especially when you’re able to create new memories with someone you were once close with. Also getting to bond with old friends/family shows you that even when you all were once close and talked 24/7, that you all are still going to have each other no matter what comes your way.
3. Go to the river or beach with friends/family:
The beach is one of the most common places for families and friends to go over the summer when they want to have a nice, fun, and relaxing vacation. Not only does the beach free you from the boredom of summer but it also frees you from the scorching hot summer days. It also allows family or friends to have an adventure, especially if its their first time going to the beach, but overall the beach is probably the number one place to go if you want to make sure your summer is not boring.
4. Go camping:
Going camping not only helps with summer boredom but it also helps remove the world of electronics from your life and opens you up to the world of the outdoors. For instance camping gives you the opportunity to bask in the sun, cool off and enjoy stargazing at night, make a campfire and enjoy the sweet delicious taste of s’mores, and overall gives you the chance to learn that there is more than just sitting around at home on your phone.
5. Go to the movies:
Going and seeing movies is a fun way to get out of the house and experience the moment of getting to see a new movie with your friends. Getting to watch a movie that was either just released or has been out for a couple of days gives you the chance to either relate to the character, because maybe they are going through the same situation as you are, or maybe it teaches you that there are many possible ways to view life. It may also show you that you can’t take the little things in life for granted because someone out their could only dream about living the life you live. Remember not only is seeing movies fun but it can also give you a new outlook on life, so sit back and enjoy the movie you plan to see this summer.
6. Play video games:
Who says playing video games is lame? Because I’d like to say that playing video games is a fun way to conquer the boredom that summer likes to drag a long when you’ve done everything that you possibly could to keep that awful feeling away. Honestly playing video games lets you just relax at home and if you’re an easy burner(prone to sun-burns) like me when you go outside, it is an easy way to keep you sunburn and pain free.
7. Take up a new hobby:
Sewing is probably one of the greatest hobbies you can take up, because if you know how to sew then you can fix any rips or snags that you might come across on your favorite piece of clothing. Also if you know how to sew and you’re on a low budget you can make all sorts of cool stuff like pillows, pajamas, blankets, etc. and give them to friends or family members as gifts for all types of holidays.
8. Get a summer job:
I know what you’re thinking ‘eww how can getting a summer job help fight the boredom?’ Well first off it is a way to get you out of the house and doing something productive. Second, not only does having a summer job teach you responsibility but you also get to earn your own money instead of having to mooch off your parents. So yes, while a summer job might seem like it is going to ruin your summer it actually won’t because it also insures that you have something to do when your friends can’t hang out.
9. Go jet skiing:
Although I haven’t personally been jet skiing I’ve heard from many others say that it is a fun experience that can keep you cool and lets you have fun. So for all you searching for that extreme adrenaline rush, jet skiing looks like it would be the perfect summer activity to take part of to receive your cure for that summer boredom.
So here are my tips to you to beat that summer boredom from me. Try them out and if they’re not for you then enjoy sleeping all day, everyday.
