One of best reviewed movies this summer was The Fault in our Stars, a movie based on the best-selling book by John Green. The book has sold over nine millions copies internationally, and has been awarded the title of the 2013 Children’s Choice Teen Book of the Year.
Those of you who’ve read the book understand how emotional it is. Even the mini heart attack you get in the last chapter of the book, which most die hard fans can quote. If you have not read the book yet, I suggest you do. After that, you can read some of his other books, like his other best seller, also soon to be movie, Looking for Alaska. It’s another great read. You get to fall in love with all of the characters from Miles “Pudge” Halter, a dorky underdog who loves to read famous peoples last words, to Chip “The Colonel” Martin, the spunky Bart Simpson of Culver Creek. Lastly, you can’t forget the beautifully, mysterious Alaska Young.
If you love Alaska’s character you will love Margo Spiegelman’s character in Paper Towns, another book of John Green’s rumored to turn into a movie. Quentin Jacobsen, neighbor to Margo has the night of his life when Margo asks him for a little favor. The next day Quentin finds out that Margo has ran away. After making it his mission to find her, Quentin’s simple life turns into a maze of questions.
Lastly, if you are an anagramming nerd you will love his book An Abundance of Katherines. Where this fresh outta high school prodigy, Colin Singleton, tries to figure out why his love life never works out, and why is it always with a girl named Katherine. If you read all of his books and just can’t get enough you can always read his co written books Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and Let it Snow:Three holiday romances. While waiting for his new books you can always go on his youtube channel, called vlogbrothers, or his website johngreenbooks.com. Try not to get a paper cut and I will blog you later.
