Ever seen the movie “10 Things I Hate About You”? Well fun fact: “10 Things I Hate About You,” directed by Gil Junger was based on the play, “Taming of the Shrew.” On Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and 28-29 at 2 p.m., Theater Productions performed a romantic-comedy by William Shakespeare in Brady Auditorium.
As the play began, the characters developed a historical sense of humor which made the play enjoyable to watch and understand since “The Taming of the Shrew” is about Lucentio arriving to the city of Padua, he overhears that the Baptista has two daughters, one that is lovable and one that would be considered a total pain; instantly falls in love with the lovable one: Bianca. Meanwhile, Lucentio is in love with Bianca, Baptista plans an immediate marriage for Petruchio and Katharina but Katharina rejects Petruchio’s proposal. As Petruchio kept professing his love for Katharina, she caves in and married Petruchio.
My favorite scene was when Alex Patterson as Petruchio kept picking up Devin Donaho and twirling and flipping her around. The entire cast did a phenomenal job performing, such as Devin Donaho as Katharina, Alex Patterson as Petruchio, Eric Sledge as Lucentio and Thomas Rodgers as Germio.
Overall rating 9/10, big round of a applause to Theater Tech. for the lighting and sound effects and to the brilliant director, Mr.Whitus, for hosting a humorous and outstanding production with talented actors and actress.
