Games aren’t the only thing softball is winning. On Oct. 16, the softball team put on their annual fall barbeque plate sale. They raised around four to five thousand dollars. The money raised will go towards equipment, uniforms, and other necessities.
The plate sale was held in the bus loop. Parent volunteers got there at 2 a.m. to start cooking the meat for the plates. The plate sale started at 11 a.m. and went on till 2 p.m. They had parents who had donated money and food including sausage. The varsity players were in charge of bringing sodas and the junior varsity brought water. The plates included one chicken thigh, one sausage link, beans, potato salad, a piece of bread, and a little baggy of pickles and onions. And for $2 patrons could purchase a homemade dessert made by a player. The softball girls helped by selling the tickets to friends and family. They brought in flat money donations, set up, brought drinks, brought desserts, made plates and helped clean up.
This year, the softball team had an order of 65 plates go out by 9 a.m. The MacArthur community is great at helping to fundraise for school programs. Softball is very grateful for all the help and money donated by the families for their program.
