The feeling of The Friday Night Lights is a feeling that sticks with a football player forever. The band plays after touchdowns, the cheers from moms and dads, the heckling of the opposing team and the referees and the feeling of unity from a community behind a team no matter wins or losses. It’s what makes those Friday nights so special. It can all go by in the blink of an eye and players see themselves taking off their pads for the last time. Joshua Feldman took his pads off for the last time on Nov. 5th after a tough loss to the Madison Mavericks in what was his last game.
“It was a roller coaster in every single way,” Feldman said. “I was constantly in a battle for the starting job. I had to deal with injuries ending my seasons early. There was always something causing an adversary, but I like to think it made me a stronger person.”
This season has come to an end with varsity going winless on the season for the second season in a row. Even with the tough times for the team, Feldman made the most of the season by being one of the leaders of a young roster as being an ironman player all over the field.
Feldman played on both sides of the ball this season by playing linebacker, safety and filling in as running back when needed. And went from playing most of his time on JV to being a full time starter on varsity.
“It felt good to be an influence to the younger players on the team,” Feldman said. “It was a pretty cool experience to have a full year on varsity.”
But Feldman will take the field one final time at the Alamodome. His play and energy brought to the field earned him a spot on the San Antonio Sport All Star Football game.
“It felt great to see that my play and success was being acknowledged,” Feldman said.
