It’s the second match 15-6 serving for the last point. One more point till the gold. One more until the National Championship for girls singles in racquetball, and -boom- with a short rally and one swift move sophomore Naomi Ros wins the second match.
The gold medalist, Naomi Ros, does not only have a dream for racquetball but for fashion. She has sewn and worn her own designs on the court, now it’s time to find out what it’s like to be a national gold medalist and an aspiring fashion designer.
“I try to eat as healthy as I can to get ready for an upcoming tournament,” Ros said.
If she wins the Racquetball Junior Nationals she’ll advance to Racquetball Junior World in Guatemala, for her second time. Her first opportunity was canceled due to COVID-19. After moving around in different sports and activities she spotted the racquetball courtroom and decided to give it a try. Soon after, her coach saw that she had a talent for the sport.
“I train two hours and a half to three hours each day, from 5 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m.,” Ros said.
Another dream for Ros is to make her own racquetball uniform. She wants to have her own brand of fashion. She said that since she was little she loved to design clothes for her barbies. She hopes to make a brand that will represent who she is when playing on the court.
“Racquetball is my whole life right now,” Ros said.
