While the dress code was rarely enforced last school year, administrators have decided that they will enforce it more strictly this year.
According to Assistant Principal Kelli Johnson, the most common things being dress coded are exposed midriffs and spaghetti straps.
“If students are out of dress code prior to 8:50 a.m, they get a warning,” Johnson said about the new procedures, “after 8:50, we’ve got MacArthur shirts, and a student will trade off the inappropriate shirt and turn it in at the end of the day.”
If a student breaks the dress code repeatedly, they will meet with their AP and discipline will be enacted. Punishment will be progressive, starting with a warning and eventually working its way up to a parent-teacher conference.
