Cross Country competed in the District meet on Oct. 13. The girls finished in 4th place overall while the boys finished in 5th. Unfortunately, only the top 3 teams move on to regionals, though this won’t be the last meet of the season for everyone.
Junior Samantha Osorio reached her goal of advancing to Regionals, placing 6th in the top 10. Now, she will continue to train in the hope of making it past Region and onto State.
“I’m feeling very nervous,” Osorio said. “It’s like wrapping your hand around being so close to a goal you’ve wanted for so long having everyone supporting me though, I’m slowly realizing that my goal is to get to state and maybe even win it one day.”
Overjoyed, her teammates congratulate her on her success and wish the best for Osorio as she keeps running toward her goals.
“I want Sam to know that I’m very proud of her and she serves as an inspiration of light to me,” fellow teammate, Jessica Smith said. “I hope Sam can make it to State and continue to follow her dreams.”
Samantha will run at the Regional meet on Monday, Oct. 25 in Corpus Christi at A&M.
