Grupo Folklorico Magnifico is a fun cultural dance group. Created in 2008 by science teacher, Ms. Reyna, the group offers a fun way for students to learn about Latin culture.
“I thought that Mac needed cultural art, and this is one way I could contribute,” Ms. Reyna said.
Through this group, students can learn about music, movement, and Mexican culture. Ms. Reyna’s style of teaching makes the moves easy for everyone to understand. She also incorporates Spanish vocabulary in her lessons, and provides her students with the stories and origins of each dance. This group is for beginners, so even students with no prior dance experience can join. Members of the group have the opportunity to participate in competitions, as well as perform at events such as pep rallies.
If you’re interested in having fun while getting a good work out, you’re going to want to join Grupo Folklorico Magnifico. The group meets Wednesdays and Thursdays at 4:15 p.m. in the Senior Dining Hall and Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. in the Dance Studio.
