Hosted by Duck Brand, “Stuck At Prom” is a competition in which participants make prom outifts out of duct tape in hopes of winning the $5,000 scholarship. Second place wins $3,000, third place $2,000 and runner ups receive $500. Any high school students age 14 and up can compete.
If you think you have the creativity and patience it takes to win, here’s some information to help you succeed:
The majority of the Outfits created take up to at least 100 hours so be prepared to devote a lot of time to your duct tape creation. Out of all of the entries, a top 10 will be selected and posted online for voting.
The Outfits are judged based off of the following criteria:
- Workmanship-30%
- Originality-25%
- Use of Color-25%
- Accessories-20%
- Use of Duct Tape-10%
If you don’t place, there’s still chance for Honorable Mention in the categories of best purse, corsage, tie, shoes, jewelry and prop.
The Duck Brand Store has a wide variety of different colors and patterns of tape so there’s plenty of room for creativity.
If you’re considering entering into the contest, it starts in 38 days. Be sure to view the official rules, and good luck!
