The blood drive is back at Mac, Southwest Blood & Tissue Center and ROTC have joined forces once again to find people willing to give the gift of red cellular life (blood). They hope to once again reach their goal of 100 units of blood for the two days that they will be here.
The main reason to give blood is to help give the gift of life to those who need it the most, “Mac Arthur has the tradition of giving the most blood”, said ROTC Kernel Blake! An added bonus to giving blood is once you donate they have your name on the database and if ever you need blood, you recieve it without charge from the hospital.
A few ways to prepare before giving blood is to stay hydrated, get a goodnight and, “eat a good breakfast”, said Blake. Also remember that you are there to give life so please keep in mind that they prefer healthy people with a healthy lifestyle.
To sign up you at least have to be 16 with parent consent, unless you’re older then you can just go to the cafeteria on Feb. 8 during your lunch period and schedule the day you wish to donate. The blood drive will be Feb. 9 & 10.
