With a district score of 13-2, and an overall score of 33-10, the volleyball team has an explosive season so far, and had a winning streak of 7 games at one point. On Friday, October 20 they played against Alamo Heights, who has always been one of their fiercest competitors. The district has seen the strength and determination these girls have brought to every game, and will continue to as they close out the season.
“I think we’ve been very successful this season overall,” senior Faith Sosa said.
Their achievements and hard work have required them to grow and learn together as a team. For some of the players, the relationships built within the team have been a driving force for them.
“We have gotten, like I would say, really close to the point where it’s like on and off the court,” Sosa said. “We just flow and work really well together in my opinion.”
As with any other activity or sport, the senior volleyball players have their own hopes and emotions about these games, especially because it’s their last year.
“As a senior, I feel like any team would wanna leave like a legacy, or an imprint,” Sosa said.
The team has expectations for every game, and especially in the way the practice and prepare to take on their next opponents.
“We have to play with a lot of intensity and intention,” Sosa said. “But I also think having fun is also a very important factor when we practice.”
Despite the close loss to Alamo Heights, the team has not lost their focus, and their vision for their future games.
“The better we do the more fun we have,” Sosa said.
