The track season has just kicked off into high gear.
During the offseason, all of the girls are working to ensure a bright season.
Ana Leal (10) has been doing track for several years.
“I’ve been doing track since 7th grade,” she said. “I throw shot put and discus on varsity.”
The team practices everyday from roughly 4:05-6:00 p.m.
“That’s not including morning workouts and weekend workouts also,” Leal said. “[We] want to hopefully win district and I would like to place higher up this year than I did last year.”
Track is the source Leal relies on to help push herself to accomplish greater things.
“I like the pressure [track puts on you],” she said. “I know that’s a weird thing to say, but it’s not a team sport. You don’t have to rely on others. You basically get to work by yourself to reach higher expectations.”
The track season officially kicked off Thursday February 14. Click here for the full schedule.

Track? I have been in track before and , let me tell you, it isn’t that easy. The commitment that these girls, and soon boys, put into track and field is amazing. I also hope that these girls get into Varsity and await a great year!
