Halloween may be over, but that doesn’t mean the thrill of it has to end. Whether it’s your favorite sitcom, animated film, or even movie, almost every single one has created a Halloween special for fans to enjoy. In light of this special occasion, I’d like to share my top three most recommended Halloween specials to watch this year.
- Brooklyn 99 – “Halloween” (Season 1, Episode 6)

Brooklyn 99, a fan favorite show, aired its first Halloween episode called “Halloween” on October 22, 2013. Jake Peralta, one of the main characters in the show, challenged Captain Holt of the 99th precinct that he could steal his prized Medal of Valor before the clock struck midnight on Halloween night. This episode of twists and bewilderment eventually led to an annual tradition of creating a special episode for each season, later being known as the “Halloween Heists.”
- It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)

Based on Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” was first aired on CBS television network on October 27, 1966. Many amusing events happen throughout this episode such as Linus’ belief in the Great Pumpkin, Snoopy’s adventure as a WWI pilot, trick-or-treating, and even Violet’s Halloween party. Although this episode aired around 60 years ago, it still remains a Halloween classic and a family favorite film.
- Hocus Pocus (1993)

This movie was originally a bedtime story created by David Kirschner, a film producer, to tell to his kids. Later, it was pitched to Disney and was eventually released to theaters in July, 1993, rather than in October. Because of this, it did poorly at the box office. Despite this setback, the movie eventually made its way to being a cult classic and popular film to watch, keeping its spice and scariness all throughout.
