Because of the government shutdown, on November 5, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), National Honor Society (NHS), Student Council, and MacTEACH partnered to provide food for families in need.
These groups and organizations that are gathering to help families are noble in providing for the people in need of this cause.
It is a real relief to see so many different organizations donate to the cause of feeding families in need, especially in time for Thanksgiving.
Through these acts of kindness, from donating, people learn and develop their empathy by helping the community and activate care for others, developing necessary human interaction skills.
Families that receive donations can have a more positive outlook on life, for giving and providing to put on their plates, relieve and remove problems from their plates. Appreciation strikes the hearts of the people who receive the donations and only help other people in need.
However, students who weren’t able to donate by the end date with the specific items, donations can still be made with these food items to the JROTC department for their food drive that has been going on since September until Nov. 21.
More students and student organizations need to donate to the cause to be able to help all of the families in need of these food items to help prevent food insecurity in our area that will bring families together to spend a better time in the holidays.
All of these food drives will benefit the community and have a huge impact on the families that need these food items to have a nice Thanksgiving, and to have time to spend with loved ones without having to worry about what lack of food.
