The one and only Harry Styles has found himself again on another magazine cover. Vogue has made Harry the first solo male cover in its 108 year history. When it came down to the options I would have definitely chosen Harry for the first solo male cover. His unique style and charm is what the world needs during this dark time.
The Dress
Harry Style will appear on the December cover for Vogue. Not only with his beautiful face but wearing a blue lace dress. I give props to his Gucci designer that made that dress because it matches him so well. Even if a dress is supposed to be worn by a woman, I’m so happy that they broke the “rules” and are breaking from tradition.
The Controversy ?
The year is 2020 and we’re still having problems with what other people do with their lives. Even though this is simply just a man in a dress some people like author and political commentator Candace Owens have their own different negative opinions about this. On Twitter she posted “ There’s no society that can survive without strong men. The east knows this. In the west, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It is an outright attack. Bring back manly men.”
Not only do I find that sexist, but I also see it as ignorance. The insensitivity in what she wrote feels like we took a step back into the past instead of moving forward to the future. I feel like people that are resistant to change in humanity just need to understand our point of view. They need to understand that this is much more than a select few. They don’t need to agree with it all the time, but they have to try and tolerate it.
The Solution
If more people took the steps to try and figure out the change that we are trying to make. There are even websites to help understand what we are trying to do. If Mrs. Owens would just take the time to talk to the the “unmanly” men then maybe she could change her mind and see that wearing a dress or wearing a suit these men are still people, and they can choose what they want to wear. Though change is needed it is not always moving as fast as we like, but change will come.
