A 4-0 loss to Clark Jan. 28 hands the boys soccer team their sixth loss of the season, a mark it took them all of last season to get to. The team’s record currently stands at 2-6 (W-L).
“We’ve just got to keep fighting. We’re playing really good teams,” senior captain Parker Miller said. “We’re playing against good competition and it’s not going our way, but we can fix it.”
Several times the team had chances at scoring a goal, with multiple opportunities at most two feet from the goal, but they could not get the ball in the net. Still, the team has scored only one goal in the season.
“Sometimes they just don’t go in,” Miller said. “We got close, those will start going in.”
For the season opener, senior Jose Barragan started at goalie. He was later replaced by junior Kory Morawietz, and he was also replaced last night by senior Jose Bermudez.
“They all do a good job, so we’re just trying to figure out who the starter is going to be when we roll into Madison,” coach Damien Simmons said. “Whoever performs the best, thats who we’ll play against Madison.”
The boys begin district play Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. at BAC-East against Madison.
