The JVA boy’s soccer team has completed yet another season. After having some downs during scrimmages, this group of hardworking and talented guys have represented the school by winning district with a final record of 15-1. But what truly sets this season apart is the story behind the stats- their positive culture and the remarkable unity between our most experienced players and newcomers.
Coach Christopher Garcia, completing his first year as the head JV coach, stepped into his role and brought in a fresh perspective and a commitment to nurturing young talent. Not only did his players learn, but he himself grew during the process.
“My favorite part of the season was having a young team, a lot of freshmen; and seeing them grow from the start of the season to the end. We got better every week and grew up as young men more than athletes,” Coach Garcia said. “As a coach, we learn new things every day, learning that the mix of being disciplined and having energy with the kids always shows through them. So we always brought that to them, and they brought the same on the field.”
The freshman, eager to prove themselves and full of excitement, filled the team with a renewed sense of enthusiasm.
“Winning district is really something. It shows how good we are and hopefully we can win district as varsity.” freshman Asher Saliceti said. Watching them integrate, learn from their teammates, and contribute to the team’s success was a highlight of the season.
“I think that the team really worked on teamwork and buildup. We really worked together as a team and for that, we were able to score many goals and win many games,” Saliceti said.
The team’s achievements are an indication of teamwork, resilience, and the power of shared experiences. It’s a season that will be remembered not just for the wins, but for the bonds created, the lessons learned, and the collective spirit that drove them to victory. The future looks bright for the soccer team and the new generations of players; and this season will forever be a reminder of what can be achieved when talent, dedication, and a shared vision come together.
